I can finally share this, hoorah! But basically glittering ink! Sparkles! So many sparkles.
So I'll eventually edit this with the next piece for this, but I've been playing in fandom things again as I mentioned a few posts back! This is from the following fanfic: From the Depths which was a fun test for me to keep a limited color palette along with keeping myself restrained (oh who am I kidding, it took me serious restraint to not go insane with the color.) If you would like to have this piece in your home, I have it and others available over here on Storenvy. Well hello there! Long time no see. I've mostly just been busy with work and inadvertently getting into a car wreck but that's okay. I'm currently walking and biking more than usual and presently employed at a small, local shop. I apologize for how slow I've been working on art; it's been a minute and trying to figure out everything will be...well...rough.
On a better note: See that image up top? That'll be what sort of shenanigans I'll be up to this weekend! In my town! At a local art exhibit! How fun is that? I miss doing shows, I miss having more income to do conventions but I feel things might be changing. So there's that! What else have I been up to? Doing fanart for fanfiction I like! I've been on a Captive Prince kick and man, I love this series, I love this fandom. I miss small fandoms and being around people my age where we could talk shop and get things Done. So for now, here's two and a friend's DnD character as a commission: As the title says!
So I've been dealing with a number of things such as being recently employed, financial issues, and just revamping a lot of my social media presence - it's currently spotty at best due to the lack of internet among other things. So on a good note! Welcome here! It's nice to have a home base again. I've been meaning to get a new site built up after falling through with Squarespace and, despite this being free with ads, they're not as intrusive as I'd thought they'd be. It's a pretty respectable place and I think I'll stay good and cozy here for a while. Good things that have happened recently: Texas Artist Exhibit was a blast, per usual. I still have my Buklaklak piece available on Storenvy, but had to turn her into a pick-up only piece due to her being framed (it'll cost...quite a pretty penny to ship her actually.) Employment is nice but I would like to be closer to home - but there is the fact I still have my substitute teaching job as well so we can try that again. Also started posting things on AO3 again, so that's always a blast. So in the meantime, time to work on job applications, along with planning out more writing and painting. Working on a new piece, so I suppose here I can suss out details about her for folks interested in reading! Our Lady Ursula of Family, Protection and Retribution (or Lady Ursula for short) – an ethereal woman clad in bearskins; some say she is as pale as the moon itself (surprise; she’s a straight up embodiment of the moon, along with being a werebear variant of a selkie.) She is the patron for mothers, children, families broken and solvent, and bastards. In the universe she's from, Ursites worship Lady Ursula through prayer, caring/nurturing loved ones, and devoting oneself through acts of unconditional love. Common gestures include a hand symbol of making two C-shades, followed by the right hand making a clockwise motion (counter-clockwise to the gesture-maker.) It's basically the three moons as a hand gesture. A ritual commonly used is to cut one's palm and, using the blood drawn, make blood runes in the ground/on trees as a safeguard from danger. Use of animal blood is forbidden, especially the blood of young animals. It must be the caster's for the belief is you must be willing to shed your own blood to protect the blood of those you care for. "So they will not spill their blood, I have spilt mine for you." - A common prayer used for this ritual Laid down some sweet workable fixative to preserve the graphite! I'm really excited to work with her, and make some more deities.
